Farm to Shore: “The Story Behind the Cup”
Experience the special bond that coffee creates between people. Our story began with a chance encounter with Kenny and Alex, fourth-generation coffee producers. Together we share a passion for building direct relationships and promoting sustainable farming practices.
Located in the Entaz Valley of Peru, Finca Santa Estela is a haven for coffee trees. Gesha trees are grown at an altitude of 1,300 to 1,500 meters. The vast coverage of shaded trees not only enhances the flavor of their coffee cherries, but also provides a refuge for wildlife. They have dedicated 12 hectares to environmental conservation, while using the remaining land for production and community projects. The Vidurrizaga family has been farming these lands for over 100 years, thanks to their commitment to preserving the soil's fertility. As a part of the ASHANINKA YANESHA OXAPAMPA BIOSPHERE RESERVE, the family is passionate about sustainability and providing full traceability guaranteeing the quality and the positive social impact in Villa Rica's coffee community.
Not only does Villa Rica prioritize giving back to their community, but they are also dedicated to preserving the environment. For decades they have maintained the integrity of their natural surroundings, ensuring that their land remains fertile and allows for successful farming for generations to come. Their commitment to conservation even extends to providing resources and support for community projects such as the construction of a medical post and a primary school. They also offer assistance to small producers with obtaining affordable agricultural inputs and navigating administrative procedures for community initiatives. At Villa Rica, community is at the heart of everything they do.
