Farm to Shore: "The Story Behind the Cup"

Coffee has the unique ability to bring people together. Thanks to our dear coffee-loving friends, we were introduced to Kenny and Alex Vidurrizaga, fourth generation specialty coffee producers, and we couldn't be more thankful. Our shared values of sustainability, direct relationships with a focus on improving coffee quality, and promoting sustainable farming practices, as well as our passion for giving back to our communities, have brought us even closer. We are delighted to share their exceptional coffees with our customers near and far.

Currently, our Driftwood coffee is sourced exclusively from Finca Santa Estela, the Vidurrizaga family farm located in Villa Rica, Peru. Here, they specialize in growing and cultivating the red bourbon varietal. At an altitude of 1,500 MASL, in the Pasco region's untamed, forested central jungle, coffee thrives. This area is renowned for producing beans with delicious notes of chocolate and caramel - perfect for taking the roast to the second crack. At high altitudes, the air is thinner and the climate is dry, which causes the coffee beans to grow slower, allowing for a longer period of time to develop their exquisite flavors.

The Vidurrizaga family values both social and environmental causes, with their protected native trees providing shade for the coffee plants and promoting more time for the cherries to mature and create complex notes. Through their conservation efforts, the family has been able to maintain highly fertile and productive ancestral fields for over 100 years. In addition, they are actively involved in community projects, such as building a medical post and supporting the local primary school. The famiy has donated land, provided technical advice, and assisted with administrative procedures for community projects, all while ensuring 100% traceability and excellent quality products.
